Knights of Black Swan Books 13 Five Time Winner BEST PARANORMAL ROMANCE SERIES! Knights of Black Swan Box Set Book 1 edition by Victoria Danann Literature Fiction eBooks
I first purchased this book series a couple of years ago. I was looking for a new story line, that still fit within my paranormal/sci-fi genre. I was not disappointed. Victoria Danann does a great job of building a story with multiple characters with sidelines, all flowing through their lives, interconnecting, and at the same time regrouping together again. The story begins with Elora Laiken. A woman from an alternate dimension from our own. However, the story in itself makes it appear, or at least sound like, she came from Earth, and is now in an alternate dimension. The story opens with Elora running for her life, away from the assassins that have overtaken her families palace. Her mentor, the brilliant "Monq" helps her by sending her through a portal to another dimension, and then destroying all evidence on how he created the device to get her there. He wants her to start a new life elsewhere. She is a brilliant and vibrant woman, who is actually stronger and more resilient than others around her because of other dimension nature. This is explained in the story after she literally falls out of the sky into a meeting room for the Knights of the Black Swan. Once the meeting takes place, Victoria Danann weaves a wonderful story, introducing Storm, Ram, and Kay. I loved this series the first time I read the first 3 books in the series, and have since read them again several times over. I highly suggest this series if you are looking for a lot of sci-fi paranormal action, love, and drama.Tags : Knights of Black Swan, Books 1-3: Five Time Winner BEST PARANORMAL ROMANCE SERIES! Knights of Black Swan Books 13 Five Time Winner BEST PARANORMAL ROMANCE SERIES! Knights of Black Swan Box Set Book 1 edition by Victoria Danann Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
Ms. Danann begins with an inter-dimensional visitor (Elora) literally falling from the sky into the HQ of the Black Swan Order. She peoples this trilogy with Knights of the Black Swan Order (Rammal, Storm, and Kay) grieving the loss of their fourth member. Those three knights are an elf, a berserker, and a werewolf shifter). And their job is to eliminate the world wide scourge of vampire without revealing 1) that the order exists; 2) that vampire exist; 3) what they do to protect humanity; or 4) how they do it.
The trilogy is long with almost constant danger. I have to admit that I had to take breaks to revive my brain (and do things like shower, make the bed, etc.) At one point I wished Ms. Danann provided a little less detail (how Elora "tamed" an abused German Shepherd was so perfectly detailed - and accurate), but it quickly became a marvelous method of letting us get to know not only the characters but also to understand the environment they were living, working, and loving in. There really is a lot going on the "science" behind inter-dimensional travel; the centuries long elf/fae animosity (sounds a lot like the Hatfields and MacCoys); demons, a witch, a seer, the history a cured vampire relives; normal travel as well as really odd ways that sound like a lot of fun. At the beginning of most chapters, you get a look into the training manual of the Black Swan Order.
Do I recommend this trilogy. Of course, if you enjoy falling into a completely different yet familiar world, strong characters who act just exactly as you imagine they would and can still make you angry, sad, hopeful, and content - all at the same time, and a story of courage, redemption, and humor, take a look. You won't be disappointed.
I was new to Victoria Danann but have become a huge fan! Also relatively new to paranormal romance novels so I am extremely pleased to share with another newbie. If, like me, you weren't sure these types of stories were f o r you I can tell you that if you like a jump start on opening the book and not feeling like you're wading through sand to get to the themes then she has your ticket. Her characters are likeable, seem to be people you may have met even. The story foundation is solid she doesn't leave you hanging on fearing you'll miss what the purpose of the story was. She writes with a passion that is contagious. I recommend the Black Swan Knights to all who love action, integrity, love, and a sweet mystery. Don't be misled or fearful of the books by the titles. Although they are true and appropriate they aren't written as gory scify.
I really hope you will read anyone of Victoria's novels to see the literary substance and how much historical research must have been invested to create these works. I am excited to read all of her books and you will be too. Welcome to a story that will keep you burning the midnight oil.
I was not as in love with this trilogy as I had hoped. It's good, but since authoress Danaan adores Ram, it was a problem for me because I thought he was a major jerk. I never enjoy vulgarity, and his behavior is so infantile I found him unlikable. I don't care how beautiful he is, he's got the depth of a cardboard box.
In fact, outside of Elora none of the characters have a lot of depth. Danaan goes so overboard on her insistence on "love at first sight" that when a character has to step back and study his/her behavior, it's the essence of cliched psychology. "Oh, I hate him so gosh, that means I actually love him." Ugh!
Elora's episode with the wolves was fascinating, in book #3. But then that story arc just sort of petered out in a very unsatisfactory wrap-up. All the men are dynamic and handsome. All the women are bright, confident, and beautiful. Everybody's rich or related to someone rich so money is never a problem. Nobody ever really makes any mistakes; when the chips are down the heroes' untested strategies work flawlessly.
It's cotton-candy paranormal AU. Fluffy and forever in love, always a bright happy future with cute kids and fresh flowers in a vase, with true-blue friends who can conveniently cross half the world in 60 minutes or less. After a while this felt like "The Partridge Family Meets The Knights Templar".
I appreciate happy endings as much as anyone, but these stories were so predictable that halfway through the second I was getting bored. The third novel picked up a little with the wolf pack, but Baka interested me only slightly more than Ram, so the trilogy ended with more uninteresting sex scenes, IMHO.
