The Russian Sleep Experiment Holly Ice Christina Crook Daniel Tyka 9781988074009 Books

The Russian Sleep Experiment Horror Novella by Holly Ice is an interesting composition which made me enjoy in my leisure time. The book is woven as three different parts and I must say that this is a unique compilation. The author uses a simple and easily understandable language to every one. It makes the reader visualize the events being described by the author. The flow through dialogues make it a more interesting read.

The story is based on a legend about sleep experiments on Russian prisoners. This happens in a prison in Siberia. The prisoners are bound to a long period of prison time where they have to experience hard labor as well. The prisoners are experimented on sleep using gas. This book is a fast phased quick read as well. There are pictures added time to time in order to convey the image and the surrounding to reader's mind and the added illustrations are very appropriate as well. The log book records added provides a wonderful approach and I really like this. The creepy horror sense in its flow will make any reader feel the depth and sense the nature of this book and entertain him. Recommended reading for every one!

The Russian Sleep Experiment Holly Ice Christina Crook Daniel Tyka 9781988074009 Books Reviews

Don't know why so many people rated this so low... I'm giving it four stars I really liked it but I do think it could've been written with more detail and gore and character development etc... other than that it's great )
What I liked best about this story was that it concentrated most on the before and after phases of the classic internet story. We get to understand why people would volunteer for this experiment and then the effects on the researchers themselves of the horrifying results. A very enjoyable read.
And that's not exactly a bad thing, this is a great spin on the original creepypasta that you may be familiar with if you're looking at this book. The story is based more on the characters of the pasta and they have been fleshed out. If you were looking for more clarity and closure to the original, you may be disappointed towards the lack luster ending of an otherwise solid horror novella.
Reading this relatively short (130 pages in print) horror novel was a pleasantly surprising experience. The plot keeps your attention thanks to its depth and although this is the author’s first major work – it does not disappoint. I enjoyed the new reality the author created, rendering The Russian Sleep Experiment story even more enjoyable! It would be great to see sequels to this!
Wow! That was really good, scary and suspenseful! She did the creepy pasta story justice and went beyond that in a great way! She told the story from the scientists perspective and the inmates perspective. It went from before they were put in experiment to the experiment and what happened after with one of the scientist. That got me on the edge of my seat and made me sweat! I highly recommend this. I’ll be checking out her other books.
At first I was skeptical when I stumbled upon this title. This is a short novella and I was able finish it in 3 sittings. The writing is interesting and at times immersive, but I do think some further work could have gone into expending the plot a bit more.Specifically, I feel that various parts of the plot could have been described in more 'detail'. That being said, reading this was fun and the approach taken to portray this classic story is unique. It's good to see a young author confront such a widely-known and notorious topic. The illustrations are really nice to look at and add to the overall atmosphere of the writing. This is a good weekend read, especially for fans of the story.
We all have lost sleep. For all sorts of reasons. But to be used as a human guinea pig and given medicated gas to stay awake for hours, days, a whole month at a time is truly a terrifying idea. On top of that having this experiment done to see if this gas would be a good medication in war time, to give to troops so they don't sleep, they just keep on fighting. That is what this book is about and yes, it is terrifying. Four “political prisoners” voluntarily sign up for and are promised a huge payoff at the end of such an experiment. This book goes through the stages of these men's lives. Telling the story of what life is like in a Russian prison camp in the late 1940's, the research facility they are brought to and living in a small cell just the four of them with no outside contact what so ever. It is a psychological look at what happens to mind, body and soul for both the prisoners and the scientists who are studying these men. It also takes a look at the aftermath of the experiment. This is not a long book, it is a pretty fast read, but this book may well haunt your own dreams and may make you loose some sleep. This book will stay with you long after you put it down.

PS. You want to really freak yourself out? Look up "Russian Sleep Experiment" on Google or whatever search engine you use. Read some articles, watch a couple of those YouTube videos. Pretty scary and freaky.
